Willem Wellinghoff appointed Special Advisor to Industry Trade Association
Willem Wellinghoff, the legal counsel for Cabot Credit Management (CCM) has been appointed special advisor to the board of the Credit Services Association (CSA).
His role will include working closely with the board and members as the organisation migrates from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulations. Additionally, it will require him to join the established team at the CSA in consultations and meetings to help ensure the members are adequately represented at Government and Regulator level.
Wellinghoff commented: “It is a great pleasure to be appointed this role and I look forward to working with everyone at the CSA. My aim is to work closely with the association to ensure the migration and transition to a new regulatory regime is as seamless and painless as possible for all the members.”
The CSA is the only national association in the UK for companies active in relation to unpaid credit accounts, debt recovery agencies, tracing and allied professional services and has a history dating back to 1902.
Sara de Tute, CSA President, said: “We have chosen Willem for this role because of the unbounded enthusiasm and dedication Willem shows to the Association and the Industry. We will be able to use his skills, knowledge and experience of the sector, to the benefit of the entire Membership.”
Wellinghoff has worked at CCM since November 2006 initially as assistant legal counsel for Cabot Financial and now as CCM’s legal counsel. His day to day role includes overseeing the legal and regulatory compliance at Cabot Financial and he reports to Glen Crawford, Group Managing Director, CCM.
Wellinghoff, who previously worked as an in-house lawyer for Toyota Financial Service (UK) PLC reporting to the General Counsel for EMEA, regularly participates in and attends industry forums and working parties, including the CSA and DBSG Compliance Working Parties.
